A collaboration with Orbital

There was a time long ago when both Chemical X and the Hartnoll brothers, Paul & Phil – who make up the seminal electronic dance music duo Orbital – were younger, when television was populated with a plethora of idents and stings between the programmes that indicated which local TV network had produced the following show. Tyne Tees Television, Anglia, LWT, Harlech Television and all the rest.

Paul was inspired to create a ‘Channel #1’ indent that took the Orbital electronic soundscape that purposely continued just a little longer than was comfortable. Chemical X knew just how to visualise the vintage graphics and animation required to do justice to Orbital’s bespoke soundscape.

Background:

Chemical X first worked with Orbital when Phil Hartnoll agreed to DJ at his CX300 show in London’s Soho in 2017. Orbital were pioneers of early electronica who helped to change everything with their Glastonbury headline appearance in 1994. Legends, pure and simple.
