The beathau5 Collection
Chemical X was commissioned to create a series of five NFTs to launch the deadmau5 electronic dance music label, beathau5.
Five different tracks by five different music artists. Chemical X based the series around the number 5 and chose to create five different star designs which would represent each track. The artworks lasted 55 seconds and visually represented the soundscape of each individual track.
Background:
NFTs are not a form of art in themselves, they are a way to identify and own a specific digital file, allowing the creator of a piece of digital art to determine that file as the ‘original’. Somewhere along the way NFTs became a series of algorithmically generated monkeys in different hats (or whatever) whose perceived value was based entirely on its rarity rather than its artistic merit.
Therefore the artworks initially produced for this project were rejected in favour of a simplified combination of the label’s logo and some of Chemical X’s recognisable elements.
Chemical X believes that these are better.
