How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast)
Netflix commissioned Chemical X in early 2020 to create a street art piece in Berlin to commemorate the release of the new series of How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast).
The brief was to imagine that the show’s main character Moritz (played by Maximilian Mundt) has commissioned Chemical X to create a monument to him. Moritz had started to believe his own hype and saw himself as a heroic figure, too clever to be caught, a tech bro for the illicit drugs trade. The piece depicts Moritz as a suitably grandiose and lauded figure, akin to a Roman God, at the centre of his own universe.
Background:
The entire build took place over two weeks in Berlin during the Covid lockdown, just as Germany opened up again to visitors. The whole production and installation was overseen by Old Yellow Creative Studios with support from BASA Studios, MStudio & Wavemaker.
Netflix’s policy of spending their promotional budget on the content rather than media meant that they saw the ‘making of’ film to be as important as the final piece and so made sure they captured the entire process.
